Meritas Creates US Leadership Committee
Meritas is happy to announce the formation of a US Leadership Committee. Bill Metzger of Robinson, McFadden & Moore, P.C. (Columbia, South Carolina, USA) will serve as the first Chair of the Committee, which will initially consist of 13 members. Two are current Meritas Board Members and will act as the conduit between the US Leadership Committee and the Board, ensuring that Meritas' global goals and strategies take into account the views of the US region.
The launch of the US Leadership Committee, along with the creation of the US Regional Director position, is consistent with the Regional Initiatives adopted in and implemented according to the new Meritas Strategic Plan, which calls for the allocation of staff resources on a more regional basis.
The US Leadership Committee, working in conjunction with Dawn Iacarella, Meritas' US Regional Director, will be charged with developing an appropriate strategy and action plan to maximize involvement and engagement of member firms in the region. Some of the group's first initiatives will include developing a meeting strategy (whether by geography, practice group, firm size, or another metric) and building a communication structure that facilitates engagement, fosters relationships, maintains communication, and promotes Meritas' global strategy and initiatives. The US Leadership Committee will also work with US Board members and other Meritas Regional Committees to identify issues that need to be addressed, evaluate new ideas or programs, and provide input into recruitment and intra-regional engagement.
The initial US Leadership Committee members reflect the diversity of the region in terms of firm size, geographic location, and length of experience in Meritas. They include Dana Perry, Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. (Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA); Chris Addicott, Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson P.S. (Seattle, Washington, USA); Tom Arceneaux, Blanchard, Walker, O'Quin & Roberts (Shreveport, Louisiana, USA); Chris Brigham, Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, P.C. (New Haven, Connecticut, USA); Phil Burke, Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP (Rochester, New York, USA); Kathy Butler, Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. (St. Louis, Missouri, USA); Michael DeFrank, Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP (Raleigh, North Carolina, USA); Alex Dobrev, Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. (Orlando, Florida, USA); Richard Lewis, Smith Hulsey & Busey (Jacksonville, Florida, USA); Katie Lynch, Moses, Dunn, Farmer & Tuthill, P.C. (Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA); J. Marbury Rainer, Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP (Atlanta, Georgia, USA); and Colin Wexler, Goldberg Kohn Ltd. (Chicago, Illinois, USA). Ms. Perry and Mr. Metzger are the two US Board members.
